October light
warm light
October sunlight
reflecting like a million mirrors
yellow, red, orange
but not only these,
a million shades of green also
and brown
and a million colors of the sun.
Autumn is dry and sweet spice
dry leaves fluttering
and stacked crispy
like a jagged carpet
crackling underfoot.
Sweet, the taste of apples
hickory spiced air
the deep, rich smell of decay
the earth receiving and
